Government announces plans to incorporate breast cancer treatment into NHIS
Ghana Broadcasting Corporation: Government gives respite to women as it announces plans to incorporate early diagnoses and treatment of breast cancer into the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS.
The Vice President, John Dramani Mahama, gave the hint when he joined a large gathering of people in Kumasi for the second edition of the Susan Komen Cancer Race. The International event is meant to educate and raise funds for breast cancer treatment.
Vice President Mahama said government will support all efforts geared towards reducing deaths from the disease.
Meanwhile, some survivors of Breast Cancer have made a passionate appeal to women to regularly go for check up.
They say the disease is not a life sentence and one can live a normal life for many years if medical attention is sought early.
