The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation New, Enhanced Primary Care Benefits
(Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation) - In support of the government’s Universal Health Care Program, known as Kalusugan Pangkalahatan, to ensure that every Filipino shall receive affordable and quality health benefits, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently introduced a Primary Care Benefits I (PCB 1) Package.
The PCB 1 Package entitles members to basic, quality health care services through accredited public health care providers nationwide. It includes primary benefits such as consultations, regular blood pressure monitoring, and diagnostic services such as complete blood count, urinalysis, sputum microscopy, blood sugar, lipid profile and chest x-ray. Medicines for common diseases like asthma and acute gastroenteritis, upper respiratory tract infection/pneumonia, and urinary tract infection are also included in this package.
These new benefits will be initially available to members under the Sponsored Program (SP), Organized Groups (OG), and Overseas Workers Program (OWP) and to their qualified dependents, and, eventually, to all other members in the various categories.
PhilHealth reaffirms its commitment to ensure better financial protection for its members in times they need it most and PCB 1 is a step in this direction. This set of enhanced benefits will also improve and expand primary health care services, and continue to meet the increased demand for these services.
